I have also been haveing a bad experience with the latest version of bochs - it seems to be problematic, but thats just an assumption. My os also works on real pc and virtual box, but no on bochs - it doesnt want to boot correctly.

Re: Make a GUI
Hello again. Before u start, considder this - the demo's here are not suitably alone for gui development. U lack heap and multitasking support. Multitasking is very important - without it you can only run the gui alone, no other background services or programs. Once u need a program - u need to clos...

Re: Make a GUI
[continued] U should create a seperate file that has all the new functions in it(eg. graphics.h - declares all the functions) and (eg. graphics.cpp - executes the functions when called from somewhere else) and then later include graphics.h in the kernel or the program that does the gui. But i am shu...

First of all, u need to know how to get into a video mode and be able to plot a pixel in C. www.brackeen.com/vga/basics.html should p...

Re: copy, move in command promp
Sorry need to clear this out... The gui is not all that important at this moment, but rather the command prompt. So at this stage in time the os is mainly command prompt and can switch to 'user mode'(gui) via a command. I created a command that is something like "copy 'file.ext' 'A:\destination'. Th...
