Hello:
I do think that the author of this series, Mike, is still working on it. He has posted previously about the updates he was going to add, eg. the write to a floppy drive tutorial etc.
Just give him some time, he seems like a busy man.
Regards...

Re: Software to use for windows 7 64 bit OS
Hello: There is no need to install anything special, just a few things you need to know. 1. To access debug you need to go to "Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt" And then just run the command like you used to. debug <bootfile> w 100 0 0 2 q >> Remember <bootfile> is just the nam...

Re: Software to use for windows 7 64 bit OS
Hi there, and Welcome: I am also using Windows 7 64-bit and have found it quite easy to use the software built into Windows for the things I want to do. Yes, I am talking about the debug command. If you want to write your bootloader to a floppy in drive A: then use the following command in command p...

Re: For Mike...
Hey.
Can you please post the modified code. Mine is not working. Sorry if I am, yet again being stupid but, where do you get all the variables(curCluster etc.)? ... Without them the code cannot work!
Regards.

Re: For Mike...
Yes, please! What he said! The things I tried never yielded any positive working results other than the BSoD's stating "Invalid Opcode" or "General Protection Fault". Obviously I am doing something wrong, I need help. I have tried searching online trying to find tutorials/code samples that al...

For Mike...
Hi, this is one of those, "Oh please would you all go away already!", type of questions. Just so you know!
It concerns chapter 22, the writing to a text file.
I was wondering if you still plan to update that part.
Regards.
PS. Sorry for bugging!

Re: memory size calculation from multiboot
For Andyhhp: Sory if I am understanding your post incorrectly but, you said that the multiboot MMIO hole is at 15MB. Does that mean the mm can only detect 15mb of ram? That is not the case, I set my memory in the virtual machine to 158mb and it detected 161mb. I also use the multiboot stuff to detec...

Re: Configuration files from hell...
Hi.
Thanks mike, that was very helpful and it made a few thinks more clear. I will start working on it as soon as possible and give updates, although I would still like a working example if it is not too much work. And I am in no rush so, take your time.
Again, thanks!

FILE file = volOpenFile(filename); //Test to see if the file is valid here: // Read contents of file into buffer: volReadFile(&file, buffer, buffsize) // buffsize = file.fileLenght /* Loop through b...

Re: Configuration files from hell...
Thanx mike. Sorry I did not look at it this way. It would be very kind of you to give an example! That code I used, was basically just to see if I can read text from a file into a variable and use it in the rest of the kernel as a conditional. But now that I go through the code again, ...
